The common stereotype that depicts the black woman as sexually irresponsible and more likely to use abortion as birth control can finally be contested with the support of research findings.
A recent study by the Guttmacher Institute, reports that abortion rates among African-American women have decreased 18 percent from 2000 to 2008. Findings also concluded that this was “the largest decline among the four racial and ethnic groups examined. “ Findings also indicated that abortion rates for teens in general had decreased by 42 percent since 1990.
It doesn’t even matter what people do with their wombs, but FACTS ARE FACTS. I bet a million and 5 bucks that alarmist, degrading rhetoric about black women’s bodies will live on despite the fact that they are not only UNTRUE but trending in the EXACT OPPOSITE direction.
